Answers:

  1) A  1u + 8
      B   1u
      C   1u   1u  1u   1u  + 16
      6u + 24 = 114
      6u = 114 - 24 = 90
      1u = 90 / 6 = 15

      C - B (How many more beans are there in bag C than B?)
      4u - 1u + 16
      3u x 15 +16
       45 + 16 = 61

Notes:
(8 more beans in bag A than B so A = 1u + 8)
bag C is twice the total number of beans in bags A and B
(C = A and B x 2 so = 2u x 2 = 4u and 8 x 2 = 16 u)

  2)  (S)alwa and (D)eva
       S + D --> 187 (1)
       D + J --> 173 (2)
       S + J --> 152 (3)

       2S + 2D + 2J --> 187+173+152 = 512 (4)
       S + D + J --> 512 / 2 = 256 (5)

       S --> 256 - 173 = 83 (4) - (2)

Notes:
Finally, you minus D + J to get S.

   3) 1422 / 9 = 158
       158 x 2 = 316
       The cost of 1 handbag is $316

Notes:
The cost of 1 belt is half the cost of 1 handbag.  So 3 hangbag x 2 = 6 handbag.
Total = 6 (handbag) + 3 (belt) = 9.
Finally, you need to multiply by 2 as original is still 1 hangbag.

    4)
Karen have at first

        1u = 60
        60 + 60 + 140 + 40 = 300
        Karen have 300 at first.

Notes:
$180 - $40 = $140 (The amount bought for dress - difference)
As such:
1u = $200 - $140 = $60
Karen at first = $60 x 2 + $180 = $300

    5) 208 - 78
        130 / 2 = 65
        Gerrard must give Irene 65 stickers.

Notes:
(1) Deduct the differences.
     Then divide by 2 to share equally.
     208 - 65 = 143
     78 + 65 = 143
