Answers:

  1) 34006 - 18408 = 15598 (Total - Chickens)
      15598 -  9923 = 5675    (Balance - Geese)
      9923 - 5675 = 4248       (Geese - Ducks)

      There are 4248 geese than ducks.

  2) 34 / 2 = 17 (Assume that both is of same age and divide by half)
      17 x 3 = 51 (Father is 3 times older)
      51 + 6 = 57 (Plus 6 years ago)

      Shafil's father is 57 years old.

  3) Shaun   1    1   1
      Raju      1
      Shaun and Raju total = 4 units
      272 / 4 = 68

      8 x 3 = 24  (Shaun)
      Soo Hui (8 times of Shaun)
      Since Shaun has 3 units, Soo Hui will have 8 x 3 = 24 units
      68 x 24 = 1632

     Therefore, Soo Hui had $1632

  4) 623 - 258 = 365
      365 + 623 = 988 (Box A 3 times more than B)

      A    1   1   1
      B     1
      Total = 4 units

      988 / 4 = 247
      365 - 247 = 118

      118 egg tarts were transferred from Box B to Box A.

  5)  Assume 25 coins.
       Start by divding into half and give the lower value the extra.
       13 ->  20 cent coins
       12 ->  50 cent coins

       20 cent coins     Total of 20 cent coins    50 cent coins    Total of 50 cent coins    Total     Check
            13                    13 x 20 = $2.60                   12                 12 x 50 = $6           $8.60      Wrong
            14                    14 x 20 = $2.80                   11                 11 x 50 = $5.50       $8.30      Correct
