The Best Secret of Creating Great Ebooks

You are a considerably smart person. You have fixed your credit, and you’ve mastered Windows XP. Writing an ebook can’t be that easy or that hard, can it be? Of course not, at least not for you. You are not going through the long route of those other promises, those rumors.

Information is not knowledge.  - Albert Einstein

You’ve heard the rumors, the stories. Especially the rumors. You can write an ebook in 7 days. You can write an ebook and become a best-selling writer on Amazon. You can write an ebook and make $24,000 in one day. Are they true? Well, it’s according to what you mean by true.

Does true mean they happened to at least one person or does true mean that it’s possible for you?

Come on, you’re a considerably smart person. You’ve done your taxes by yourself, you’ve fixed your credit, and you’ve mastered Windows XP. Writing an ebook can’t be that easy….or that hard, can it? Of course not, not for you. You’re not going the long route of those other promises, those rumors.

You’re going for the time-honored route.

That’s right, you’re going to work for it. But don’t worry, most of your work is going to be in planning the book, not writing it. That’s one of the secrets few people tell you when you start writing an ebook.

SECRET #1

Most of your time will be spent planning your ebook.

Ok, that’s cool huh? You’ve planned big events, company functions, and even planned your two-week vacation last year. But this is a different plan. It doesn’t deal with dates and times, it deals with information. Think about it.

Essentially, your ebook will a container of information, colored by you and your writing.

That’s it, don’t go romanticizing ebooks as this streaming repository of cutting and bleeding-edge technology for the smart online shopper…

Blah, blah, blah.

Again, you’re not looking for that. You’re going to write an ebook and these steps will lead you to the finish line.

A complete ebook.

Which leads us to the first and most important question – What do you know? This question is first because without answering this question, you won’t be writing an ebook, you’ll be assembling different writings and squeeze them together with a common word others will mistake for a title.

Not you, nope. Not you.

You’ll go through these steps, write your ebook, publish it, and move on to the next. Oh, I’m sorry, you thought this was a one-time thing. Trust me, there’s enough information in that large brain of yours to write hundreds, maybe thousands of ebooks.

But let’s finish the first one, ok? Now let’s get back on track. What do you know? The easiest way to answer this question is to look at your time. Where do you spend most of your life? Work, School, Home, wherever. The point is to find where your time goes and that time will now pay you back. You can’t get time back, but that time has been well-spent.

For example, let’s say you work as a financial planner, but spend all your free hours at church. You’ve been going there for years, helping members plan their days, organize their programs, and finish their projects on time.

How many ebooks do you see in that sentence? Look harder and think harder. How many?

3, 10, 20.

If you said 20 or more, then you’re right.

20?

Yes I said it, 20. Let’s take the sentence piece by piece and find those tiny nuggets.

Financial

* Take control of your finances

* How finances relate to our world

* How finances improve relationships

* How finances impact credit

* What is this thing finance all about anyway?

* A quick reference guide to finance

* What is financial planning?

* Why plan your future financially?

Planner

* Introduction to planning

* Planning for your family

* Plans for finance, plans for romance

* Plan your gas mileage next month

Church

* Planning your church into profits

* Building your church member by member

* Making church your home away from home

I’ll stop there. And just think, I didn’t get into church programs, church organization, church projects, and then combining church and financial planning. I just wanted you to know there’s a wealth of information in your brain. You’ve got to trust yourself and be honest.

What is it that ONLY YOU know?
