Give it some thoughts and there can be many ideas you can come up with to make money, even a living, from the internet - and now I've discovered that there's money to be made from simple blogs! Blogs that you and I are already writing! Whether it's a personal blog designed to chronicle your journey through life, or a specific niche blog written about a very specific topic, there are ways to monetize it! You could be making money from something you're already doing!

Some of the ways that I know of to make this happen are by joining advertising sites as a publisher. Companies (and individual businesses) will pay you a small amount for hosting an ad on your page. Basically, it's like you're the "newspaper" - and they're paying for an ad in it! 

Therea also some companies will pay you just for hosting the ad, some will pay you for how many times that ad gets clicked, and some companies will pay you for how many times the page containing the ad is viewed. Of course, some companies do all of these! Two companies that are set up well for bloggers, though other websites can use them too, are AdSense (by Google) and Adgitize.

Associate programs are another money making tool that bloggers can utilize. These are programs that are set up in such a way that as a blogger you can post a picture or a link on your site, and then when a visitor clicks on it, they are taken to another page which shows the product for sale and how they can purchase it. If they do, then you make a commission from the sale! Amazon Associates is one of these programs. There are MANY!

Contextual link advertising is again, a way for businesses to promote their product through your site. If they make money from the ads they have embedded in your text (usually shown as a double underlined word link) then you make money, too!

Now, the other key thing to making money from your blog is that you need "traffic". Traffic is the coined expression on the internet meaning the people who visit your site. So, the amount of traffic you can drive to your site, the more times your pages will be viewed, the more chances there are for your ads to get clicked, and the more chances that someone visiting your site will find a product they want to buy. What all of this ads up to is the more traffic you can generate - the more money you can make!

Therefore mum, you can be happy blogging and making money at the same time.
