Explain about the steps in wage type characteristics. In this step, the following characteristics for all customer wagetypes are defined: a. Nature of wagetype – payment vs deduction. For example, since 1000 series wagetypes are payment wagetypes the ‘Add to total’ checkbox is ticked for them. Since 2000 series wagetypes are deduction wagetypes ‘Deduction wagetype’ checkbox is ticked for them. b. Minimum / maximum for amount input c. Input combination for the wagetype – number vs amount. For wagetypes like Basic since there is no input in no. the configuration has made in a manner that number input is not allowed (-) and amount input is a must (+). On the other hand, for shift allowance wagetype (1340), the entry has to be made in no. of weeks and then valuated in payroll and converted into amount. For this purpose, no. has been made a compulsory input field (+). Amount has been configured as an optional input field (.). d. Unit and Minimum / maximum for number input – For example, in M&M, Shift Allowance input to be given in no. of weeks and the same can be a minimum of 1 and maximum of 5 e. Indirect valuation module: Where the amount for wage types can be proposed by the system, the manner in which the same has to be proposed is defined in this section. Two SAP standard indirect valuation modules have been used in M&M context as follows: INVAL A where the system has to propose a fixed amount depending on a payscale type, area, group and level combination. For example, LTA (wagetype 1320) is a fixed amount for all non-flexi levels and the same is hence indirectly evaluated using module A INVAL B where the system has to propose an amount which will be the percentage of certain other wage type. For example, display wage type for PF (9010) which has to be proposed as 12% of PF base is configured as inval B.
