What are batch management in the SAP system? By: Suntiha A batch in the materials management system is defined as a subset or partial quantity of a material that is managed separately from other subsets of the same material. Each batch is identified not only by its material identification but also by a separate batch number. Typical examples of batches include different production lots (such as paints, dyes, wallpapers, and pharmaceutical products), delivery lots, or quality grades of material. Follow below as it is for beginner's to easily understand. Prerequisite for batch management: Step 1 - create material - MM01 there select batch management indicator in purchasing tab. enter all required fields. and save now your material has been created for batch management. Step 2. Now create charateristics - T.code - CT04. This characteristics to identify the material based on eaither color or size etc. Create characteristics for your material color - CT04
Again create characteristics for your material size -
CT04
Now club all above two characteristics in one class. Step 3 create class - T.code - CL02
<SAVE> Step - 4 Now create Batch - T.code MSC1N Material - enter above material created for batch management
Now you can create same like with different combinations of batch Now create PO - ME21N In PO enter batch number "batch 01 " in item level GR - against PO Stock over view - MMBE (can see the batch management number)
