There is an ancient Chinese proverb, 'The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.'  So does the process of change.

It really doesn't matter how far you feel you have to go, or how quickly you can progress, as long as you realize you can do it and keep going in the right direction.  Don't think about the 'thousand miles' ahead; just focus on the short distance you need to travel today.

It is your right and your responsibility to have a good self-image.  You owe it to yourself and to all those people you care about and who are close to you, especially your children.  Although they cannot physically inherit high self-esteem, any more than you could, don't ever forget that you are helping to shape their lives; you are their role model and can help them make the decision to have a good self-image for themselves by following your example.

We have to learn to be our own best friends because we fall to easily into the trap of being our own worst enemies.
