Thoughts Are Things

Thoughts have tremendous power, every action you have ever taken began as a thought.  You cannot breathe, talk, eat, move or blink without a conscious or unconscious thought entering your mind, even if only for a fraction or a millisecond.  Every one of your emotions, happiness, sadness, anger, guilt, shame originates as thought.

During a typical day, thousands of thoughts go through your head.  Most float in and out quite innocuously, but those which take hold can either be very harmful, or can do you a great deal of good.  It all depends on which ones you allow to flourish in your mind.

We all need to understand the power of thought.  Your thoughts can build up or destroy you.  They have an enormous effect on your body and your life.  But sadly, most of us find it very hard to hold a positive thought for more than a few seconds, yet a negative thought can stay with us for days.  Now wonder most people are not as happy as they could be!

Scientists estimate that 80 per cent of your energy is used up by the thoughts floating round in your head.  How do they get there in the first place?  The answer is simple: you put them there.  You, perhaps unknowingly choose which thoughts to hold on to and which to banish.

Your self-esteem is only a collection of thoughts about yourself, based to a large extent on your past experience.  The good news is that you can control and change your thoughts.  If you don't do this, they will control you.  Learn to channel them correctly and you will have the power to improve your self-image and reshape our life.
