Warren Buffett investment wisdom:
Stocks rebound on bargain hunting. Regional investors interest buoyed by Wall Streets gains. Another reason for you to start investing in good fundamental dividends stock now: Four public universities have raised tuition fees - by up to 7.9 per cent - for Singapore citizens enrolling in academic year 2014 (AY2014), with some institutions implementing steeper hikes for permanent residents (PRs) and international students. Fees will also be going up at the polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). The National University of Singapore (NUS) has raised fees for general courses by 2.6 per cent to S$7,850. Popular courses such as business, dentistry, law and medicine saw bigger hikes of 3.3 to 7.9 per cent, with fees for the law programme rising 7.9 per cent to S$11,650 per year. February 9 2014 Premium hikes deserve closer scrutiny Many note this is due to some doctors charging high fees for a standard surgery or treatment. Personally, we've had a similar experience. My husband sought treatment from a private doctor recently and was quoted $2,000 for a simple procedure. When he protested it was too high, the doctor relented and said he would do the procedure for $1,600 - but not before saying: "If you have insurance, it shouldn't matter to you. Just claim the whole amount." Should this be the attitude of our doctors? -- Written by Jessica Cheam thesundaytimes No wonder our insurance premium keeps going up, it is due to such un-professional doctors. This week bought SIA Eng @ 4.78 and SGX @ 7.82. Currently doing Time Averaging as it would be impossible for me to buy at the cheapest price and that is never my intention. It was really a very volatile week and the market starts sinking like nobody business during the first few days and goes below the 3,000 level. It managed to recover as the week ends and was able to rise above the 3,000 level again. Putting the markets number aside, the companies fundamentals didn't changed much. The global economy is still recovering especially in US, Japan and Europe where their fiscal and monetary policy is still pro-growth. Therefore, instead of panicking, fundamental or dividend investors (read also; Best Bet in the Stock Market Are Stocks That Pay Dividend), should consider capitalizing on the weakness to accumulate gradually. For this week, have bought CSE Global @ 0.665 and ST Eng @ 3.83 Investment logic to ponder upon: Why you should look for dividend rich stocks in companies which are undervalued, especially those which are able to pay a higher dividend over time. Possible Stock Market scenarios: In a market bull run: Rising tide will carry most boats and most stocks will go up. Capital gain will occur. Dividends will be an added bonus here. When market are moving sideways: 1) Dividend will make waiting more bearable, so anything 3-6% at entry price, is a good figure. 2) No one knows exactly how long market will move sideways, in meanwhile cash flow is still maintained. This can be used to purchase more shares in the same counter or in another. Let say if market move sideways for 2 yrs, at a modest 4% yield, if just going by the dividends, one would have collected 8% while waiting. 3) Counters which pays an increased dividends over time: Even if market move sideways, as one's cashflow actually increases over that time when market moves sideways. When market goes bearish: 1) Dividends will guard downside to some extent. so this protects your capital to a certain extent. 2) The cash flow from the dividends could be used to purchase a even greater number of shares at the depressed prices or enter into another more undervalued counter. Most of the times, investor won't know where market is heading. Bear and bull market will come and go, but over a long period of time, what you would have built up is a large "army" of money producing "soldiers". Of course, one will need to control his greed and fear factors over this period of time. Therefore. keep yourself very busy with day to day activities and that includes doing housework which is the best distraction against these two emotions. Lastly, do know that there are no perfect investment method in this world. Your investment is your own choice and it is better to stick with Simple Stocks Purchase Principles.
